Players PSG can sign to replace Kylian Mbappe

02/08/2023

Kylian Mbappe and PSG are at civil war after the striker decided against renewing his contract, which means he will be a free agent at the end of this season.

Mbappe is one of the world’s best players and has broken the goalscoring record at PSG already, so he wants a new challenge.

Almost every summer, the Parisians have to battle to keep him in their squad, but we all know Mbappe is a player that is destined to play for Real Madrid.

The Spanish club is keen to ensure he joins them next, and PSG feels he has already agreed to a deal with Madrid.

The Frenchmen have every right to be furious because losing a player like Mbappe for free at the end of next season would be embarrassing.

He is clearly one of the best players they have ever had and should cost more than the record-breaking fee they paid to sign Neymar in 2017.

But Mbappe seems prepared to hold out for a year and leave PSG as a free man while signing a multi-million euros deal with Madrid.

It is good that the Parisians are fighting to stop Mbappe from leaving, but they have to sign a replacement for coach Luis Enrique to work with this season.

The new campaign is fast approaching, and this term will only be successful if they add a new striker to their squad to replace Mbappe.

PSG tickets sell more with Mbappe in the team because he brings goals to the games, but that could all change if no top striker joins the group as his replacement.

This article considers some attackers who could replace the Frenchman in Paris.

Victor Osimhen, Napoli

Osimhen is one of the hottest properties in European football at the moment after he helped Napoli end three decades of hurt to win the Scudetto last season.

The Nigerian is in talks with the Italian champions to extend his contract, but they are not progressing.

He is also the subject of a huge bid from Saudi Arabia which could be too tempting to turn down.

However, PSG can get their man if they are willing to spend as much as they did to sign Mbappe and Neymar.

Osimhen guaranteed goals and bagged 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli last season.

He has been improving every season and is one striker who can hold his own at PSG’s attack if they add him to the group.

The U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has played in Ligue 1 before, where he turned out for Lille, so he would be able to settle at PSG.

Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus

Vlahovic has struggled since he moved to Juventus, with poor form and some injuries plaguing the Serbian.

However, his lack of goals could come down to the type of system that Juve plays with at the Allianz Stadium.

The Old Lady is more defence-minded under Max Allegri, so getting the support he needs to score as many goals as possible at the club is hard.

However, at PSG, the story will be much different when he is partnered with Neymar and Marco Asensio in attack.

Juventus wants to sell him after identifying Romelu Lukaku as his replacement, and this could make him a cheap player to acquire for PSG.

Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal

Gabriel Martinelli has worked his way into the Arsenal first team from being an unknown quantity when he first moved to the Emirates.

The Brazilian was a key part of the Arsenal squad that nearly won the Premier League last season and made an important contribution.

Martinelli scored 15 league goals and provided five assists in 36 league games for the Gunners.

His fine form proved he has developed into a player who can now hold his own on the pitch and deliver top performances whenever he is called upon.

Arsenal looks serious about becoming one of the top clubs in Europe again and have bolstered their squad with some expensive new signings.

This means Mikel Arteta’s side are likely to insist on holding on to their best players, but in football, everyone has a price.

Transfermarkt values Martinelli at €80.00m, a fee that PSG should pay if they consider the former Ituano man good enough.

Scoring 15 goals in the Premier League is not an easy feat to achieve, and Martinelli could get triple that number with good services from his PSG teammates in France.

Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan

Martinez fired Inter Milan to the final of the Champions League last season as one of the best strikers in Europe, and he has been in that category for a long time.

He won the World Cup with Argentina and the Italian Cup with Inter Milan while also clinching the Italian Super Cup.

The Argentinian scored 28 goals for the Black and Blues, which is one reason they will not even consider selling him.

But like we established before, every player has a price, and Inter could be open to the sale if PSG offers a record-breaking fee.

At 25, Martinez is still a relatively young striker and has probably not hit the peak of his career just yet.

At PSG, he would face defences that do not have the same quality as what is obtainable in Italy, which will likely make it easy for him to score goals aplenty.

Martinez is valued at around €85.00m, but PSG might be asked to pay more for his signature if they make their move to add him to their squad.

Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht Frankfurt

Kolo Muani became more popular following his eye-catching performance for France at the last World Cup.

The attacker was drafted to replace the injured Christopher Nkunku and delivered a fine performance for Les Bleus.

He has maintained his good showing at the club level, which is why he is being scouted by some of the top clubs in European football.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for him, with both clubs becoming scared about his 90m euros valuation.

However, when you consider the Frenchman is still just 24 and scored 23 times last season, even though he did not play as a striker.

He has huge potential and probably is worth as much as Frankfurt have asked for his signature.

PSG may have to sign more than one attacker to replace Mbappe, and Muani will provide some of the goals his national teammate scores when he plays for them.

Boulaye Dia, Salernitana

One unfancied name PSG should consider to bolster their squad as Mbappe trains away from the team is Dia.

The Senegal star has been in terrific form in the last few months, and his goals were a reason the Serie A side did not suffer relegation.

He plays for a small club and does well; if he were to be at a better side like PSG, we expect him to do even better, and that should be a reason why the Parisians should move for him.

Dia is a top player, and we expect him to keep getting better, so he will bring goals to Paris, even if he has to play off the bench.

PSG remains one of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the departure of Kylian Mbappe will seriously affect them as a club.

However, every player is replaceable, and we expect the Frenchmen to pick the right man to achieve that even before the transfer window closes.
