The most exciting youngsters to follow in the Premier League now

08/10/2024

The Premier League is considered the biggest football league in the world, and financially, no other competition comes close.

The English top flight has a host of clubs who have rich owners and are never affraid to splash the cash on new signings.

Some of these teams compete for the biggest stars in world football, and because they can offer competitive salaries, they usually win the race for these players.

Fans who buy Premier League tickets know that they will always get value for their money because there are so many good performers at different clubs in the competition.

However, one part of the competition that is not talked about enough is the number of youngsters making the cut at some top teams.

Despite the presence of big money signings at the different clubs, some youngsters are making a name for themselves at the different Premier League clubs and we discuss the most exciting to watch.

We chose players who are either teens or less than 23 years of age because we wanted to get the players who are really young and make things happen in the league.

Rico Lewis, 19, Manchester City

Manchester City is one of the highest spenders in the Premier League, and they have lost Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho because of a lack of game time.

However, Lewis has still managed to break into their first team, and this versatile youngster is now one of Pep Guardiola’s favourite stars.

He was originally a right-back, but he slots into midfield well and is one of the best talents in the country now.

Doku Jeremy, 22, Manchester City

Doku was brilliant at Manchester City last season and played a lot of games in that campaign as Jack Grealish struggled to stay fit.

It will be tougher for him to start games this term, but he can be influential off the bench and might help City avoid regretting the sale of Julian Alvarez.

Riccardo Calafiori, 22, Arsenal

We all expected Arsenal to sign a new striker in the summer, and most of us certainly did not think they needed a new defender.

They had the best defence in the Premier League last season, but after watching Calafiori at Euro 2024, the Gunners knew they had to sign him and did.

His arrival means they still have the best defence in the league and perhaps a better one than the one from last season.

He is such a joy to watch when he plays, and at 22, he can only get better as long as he stays fit.

Jhon Duran, 20, Aston Villa

What a player Duran has been at Aston Villa, and fans would be surprised that he is still just 20.

Villa has one of the best teams in the Premier League and continue to improve under Unai Emery, but Duran makes them win more games with his late strikes.

They are also always delicious, and he will have plenty goals as nominations for Goal of the Season when the term ends.

Morgan Rogers, 22, Aston Villa

Unai Emery was displeased when Rogers was told to play for the England U21 instead of the senior team in the September international break, and most fans would share the same sentiment.

The attacker has been brilliant and he looks different from the type of players England has.

Rogers knows how to bully his way through an opponent’s midfield and he is not afraid to get stuck in.

Bart Verbruggen, 22, Brighton

Verbruggen is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. He plays for a Brighton side with so many top young players, yet the Dutchman has stood out among his teammates.

The Netherlands national team even recognises him as their number one, such is his fine form this season.

Jack Hinshelwood, 19, Brighton

Another very impressive youngster to follow at Brighton this season is Hinshelwood, and it is a surprise that he is only 19.

He is a starter for the Seagulls and proves why he is worth starting every single time you watch him play.

Hinshelwood is a player to watch at Brighton and in the Premier League, and we expect him to make the senior England team soon.

Murillo, 22, Nottingham Forest

Juventus and several top clubs wanted to sign Murillo in the summer, but he stayed at Nottingham Forest, and he is one of the players who have made them competitive this term.

This season, they have been solid at the back which helped them to earn that famous win at Liverpool and the Brazilian defender has been superb.

Milos Kerkez, 20, Bournemouth

Kerkez is one of the finest left backs in England and his performance will make the top clubs in the country sign him sooner than later.

Bournemouth knows they only have him for now, and the way the Hungarian plays shows he is made for a bigger team.

Facundo Buonanotte, 19, Leicester City

The only reason why Brighton sent Buonanotte on loan to Leicester City is because they have too much competition in their squad and the attacker is proving too important to be benched at the home of the Foxes.

He already has two goals and two assists in his first six league games for them and he is one of the youngsters to watch in England.

Liam Delap, 21, Ipswich Town

Ipswich has found life tough in the Premier League after their promotion this season, but Delap has been a standout contributor for them.

The son of Rory Delap has four goals in the Premier League for them already and scores some stunners, so every fan should watch him play.

Renato Veiga, 21, Chelsea

Veiga is one of the lesser known players whom Chelsea signed in the summer and fans had expected him to leave the club on loan.

However, Enzo Maresca has included the 21-year-old in his plans for the season, and the defender has been in fantastic form.

The Blues are pleased with his performance and because he keeps improving, he is one of the players to watch.

Lukas Bergvall, 18, Tottenham

Tottenham beat Barcelona to sign Bergvall last season and allowed him to finish the term at his former club, which has paid off.

The midfielder is one of the best Swedish talents we have seen and Ange Postecoglou has been handed him chances to shine.

He has taken them so far; as the season progresses, we will see more of the teenager.

Conclusion

The Premier League does not just have the best players in world football. Some of the best youngsters in the globe also play in the competition.

While we wait to see if the likes of Arsenal could become champions in the summer of 2025, it is a great idea to keep an eye on these talents stars.
