Why Manchester City will win the Premier League this season

15/08/2023

Manchester City has won the last three Premier League titles and five of the last six after Liverpool disrupted their dominance in 2020.

The Citizens have become one of the biggest clubs in the world over the years and a team to fear in the last few campaigns.

Pep Guardiola arrived in England and turned them into one club that no one can catch in a title race, while the arrival of Erling Haaland last season made them even more invincible.

After several tries and near-misses, City won the Champions League last season and ended the campaign as winners of the treble - FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League.

It is huge to achieve this, but they made it look so easy, and it is hard not to think they will still be among the top sides in the world this term.

Guardiola's men have been superb in every way and lost just one pre-season game to show they truly mean business.

Their form during preparations for the proper campaign shows those who buy Man City tickets can be confident that this team is preparing to deliver value to them again, as is always the case even before now.

The new campaign started with the Citizens facing newly-promoted Burnley on Friday, and the Championship champions were keen to show they have so much to deliver.

The game offered Vincent Kompany a chance to show what his team is made of in this first game of the season, but City proved to be too hot to handle for them, and the Citizens won the game 3-0.

That was away from home, yet they easily dispatched their hosts and showed there was no closeness between them.

City will face tougher opponents before the season ends, but starting the season so comfortably shows this side is incredible and will get another Premier League title. Here are some other reasons why.

Haaland cannot stop scoring

Erling Haaland bagged a brace in the game against Burnley and could have scored more if he stayed in the match much longer.

This Norwegian is a phenomenon who scored 36 times from 35 matches in the Premier League last season, and he has already shown us that the goals have not stopped coming.

Haaland is one player we are sure we need to stop scoring to have any chance of seeing a new league winner in England.

If he scores twice or more in more matches than he did last season, we will be in big trouble again and probably should prepare for him to win yet another Golden Boot award.

City scored 94 goals in the entirety of last season, which means he scored almost half of that, and he will keep improving.

At 23, Haaland still has so much of his career ahead of him, and we expect the striker to continue getting better as the term continues to go on.

City has one of the best squads in the world and has not lost many of their key men, so this makes it easy for them to replicate the success they had last season, and Haaland will be a key contributor.

City has kept their key men

Normally, when players achieve something as big as winning the treble, they want to change clubs and try a new challenge as soon as possible.

When these individuals want to leave, it is very hard to convince them to stay, but City has managed to keep hold of their top players.

They lost the very useful Ilkay Gundogan and Ryad Mahrez, but Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva, who also wanted to leave, are set to stay.

Walker is one of the fastest right-backs in the world, and he makes the team so much better than it is when he doesn't play, so losing him would have been a huge blow for City.

The Citizens have been very clear that they want to keep their best players and have done a superb piece of business by stopping Walker from moving to Bayern Munich and Silva to PSG or Barcelona.

Keeping a majority of the players they have shows City is committed to remaining successful for as long as possible, and we expect them to do even better in the next campaign and show they can be the best-ever Premier League team.

Treble gives them an invincible mindset

One thing we have learned from the dominance of Real Madrid in European football and Manchester City in the Premier League is that winning matches helps you to win even more.

City has won five of the last six Premier League titles, and it took an almost perfect Liverpool team to stop them in the 2019/2020 season.

Arsenal tried to win the league in the last term but found out it was much harder than they thought it was and struggled to cope with the demands needed to get near winning.

City easily won that league because they delivered value and have been in a title race for several seasons.

Now that they have won the treble, they have even more experience in winning, and it will add some invincibility to their play.

Guardiola's side has now etched themselves into the history books as one of the top clubs in the land, and they will hardly go back now.

For several seasons they came near to winning the Premier League, and when they finally did, they have been at the races every season.

Now that they have also cracked what it means to win the Champions League, it would be much easier for them to keep challenging for the Premier League title.

This experience will make them feel they can hardly be stopped by anyone in the domestic league, and that is one recipe for success.

Pep Guardiola loves a challenge

Last season, many people doubted if City could win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in one campaign.

The Citizens defied the odds and did it, making them only the second Premier League club after Manchester United to pull that off.

The new challenge is that City cannot become the first club to win the league for four consecutive seasons.

They are already on three, and this is one reason we believe they can win the next Premier League.

For much of his managerial career, Guardiola has thrived on meeting expectations against all odds, and we believe the gaffer will prepare his team to do well in this campaign.

The club has backed him with some exciting new signings while keeping the players they know are key to their success, and it is hard to see why they will not win another Premier League title.

Their opponents have also strengthened their squads, but having won the league more times than any other club in the last ten years, it is superbly easy to see why City will be champions again.

They have one of the best squads in the country, and their manager has been at the top of the game for a very long time, making it easy for them to successfully challenge and win the league.

It does not mean this season will be easy for City, but it does show that they are the team to beat, and they have the resources to earn yet another Premier League crown.

With time, we will see if there will be another club that will challenge them this term as Arsenal did in the last one, but City will be almost unstoppable as they always are.
