Euro 2024 qualifying matches to follow on matchday seven

12/10/2023

The qualification for Euro 2024 has reached its seventh matchday, and there are some very good games to look forward to.

Germany is preparing to host the rest of the continent in one of the best footballing tournaments in the world, and it promises to be a good one.

The Germans haven't had the best times in recent competitions but will automatically qualify for the Euros as hosts.

Their form in friendly games has been terrible, which forced them to change their managers, but they are not the only national struggling.

Several countries that have to go through the qualifiers to make the tournament are also struggling to pull their weight.

Some have had an easy time in the qualifiers, like Portugal, who look unstoppable and can already be considered the favourites to win the competition.

They won it in 2016, and Roberto Martinez seems like the perfect manager to help them win the competition again, which could be the last tournament for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Scotland has also had a good qualifying campaign and is making fans flock to trusted ticket resellers to get their hands on tickets for their matches.

Austria is another country who have done well in the qualifier so far and we take a look at the matches you do not want to miss in the next round of Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Spain vs Scotland

Scotland tops Group A with 15 points ahead of this game against Spain, even though the Spanish side is considerably more talented.

The Scotsmen have played one game more, but Spain knows the earlier they catch up with the group table toppers, the better it would be for them.

Scotland has some fine Premier League players in their squad, but they have never exactly been considered a team that should finish ahead of Spain.

The Spaniards know they cannot underestimate what Andy Robertson and his teammates can do, making this game exciting.

Alvaro Morata has been in superb form for club and country as he leads the line well, while Lamine Yamal continues to show he is one of the best youngsters we have ever watched.

Spain will be at the Euros and will not want to be spectators alone, so they know they must show their pedigree in this game in front of their fans.

Netherlands vs France

Netherlands and France are in the same group for the qualifiers for Euro 2024, and it has been a close contest between them for the top spot.

France is fresh from reaching the final of the World Cup in Qatar and eager to win another trophy after that heartbreak.

The Netherlands are being rebuilt after an entire generation of players did not win any trophy for them, but they have some of the best players in Europe in their group now.

The likes of Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay, Noa Lang, and Steven Begwijn are leading their attack, and their midfield comprises the likes of Teun Koopmeiners, Davvy Klaasen, Frenkie de Jong, and Xavi Simons among others.

In defence, the Netherlands has many world-class talents, including Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Light, Nathan Ake, Denzel Dumfries, and Micky van de Ven.

It is super easy to consider France the favourites to win this game because of the talents at their disposal, considering it would be very hard for the Netherlands to stop the likes of Olivier Giroud, Kylian Mbappe and Randal Kolo Muani.

On paper, France probably has the better team, but this game would be between two of Europe's biggest footballing nations and the home side is already behind Les Bleus by six points in the qualifiers, so they will want to close the gap in this fixture.

Austria vs Belgium

Under Ralf Rangnick, Austria is experiencing a major shift in how they perform in Europe and look set to be in the next Euros.

This game is their biggest match in the qualifier, but they host the Belgians, having matched their results so far.

Belgium is one of the biggest footballing nations in the world and is always a favourite in every competition.

Yet, they and Austria have the same 13 points from five qualifying matches ahead of this game.

Qualifying for the Euros would be a big achievement for the Austrians, but can they stop Romelu Lukaku and his teammates?

The AS Roma striker has been in superb form since he joined Jose Mourinho's side, and he is the leading scorer for the Belgian national team.

Domenico Tedesco has been tasked with making Belgium champions of Europe in Euro 2024, and the game against Austria will prove if they are ready.

The Austrians have been superb in the qualifiers and if they get even a draw from this match, their fans will believe their team will not just qualify for the Euros but can make an impact in the competition.

Portugal vs Slovakia

Cristiano Ronaldo always wants to win, and the Al-Nassr striker is already eyeing success at Euro 2024.

He led his country to win the 2016 edition in France and wants to play until he is 40. With Ronaldo, that means continuing to keep winning trophies.

The attacker has five goals in the qualifiers already and may have scored several more if he was not suspended for the match against Luxembourg.

Portugal is coasting through their group as they have collected 18 points from six games so far, winning all their matches and conceding zero goals.

Their next opponent is Slovakia, who would be worried about the scale of the task ahead of them.

Impressively, they are second in the group, having lost just once and won four of their six matches, but Portugal will test them to their limits.

Ronaldo and his teammates are making a statement in this qualifier, but Slovakia knows Luxembourg will draw level with them on points if they lose this match and the latter wins.

This means we can expect them to be very hard to beat by Portugal in this game and their resistance will make this fixture one of the matches to watch.

Croatia vs Turkiye

Croatia and Turkiye are level on ten points at the top of their group ahead of this game, but the host has played a game less.

This group was expected to be very competitive, especially with Wales also in it, but these countries have made it about them so far.

This is why this game is an interesting fixture to consider watching among the games for game week seven.

Turkiye missed out on a place in the last World Cup despite having some of Europe's finest players in their squad.

They want to be at the Euros and to prove they have what it takes to make an impression in that competition.

However, Croatia have been the more successful of the rivals so far, as they have reached at least the semi-final stage of the last two World Cups.

The likes of Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic, Matteo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol make them a team of stars that Turkiye could struggle to play against.

However, both nations top the standings for a reason, and none will be foolish enough to underestimate what the other can do in this match.

This round of matches for Euro 2024 will be exciting, and these are the games you clearly do not want to miss, so now is the best time to get your tickets.
